Update: Part 2 of Bluefin's figure poll is now live. Pick the right one now, ya hear?!
Hot on the heels of the recent release of the Type-2 Zero figure, we have an enigmatic message, which is more like a clue, along with a intriguing silhouette straight from Bluefin's official facebook. Contents are as follows...

"I was originally only to be available as a Japanese Web Exclusive until massive American interest pulled me out. Who am I? "You worthless piece of scrap metal, did you think you could defeat me?"

Gee...I wonder who it could be? I'm feeling like Axl at the beginning of X8. All that can come next is an official announcement of whoever this mysterious maverick is! I'm sure it's safe to say a lot of people will be buying him. ;)

In other news, Bluefin is gearing up for their second voting process for what figure(s) they should create next. It's safe to say that Zero Type-2 and whoever that badass is up there won't be included in the poll, but choices will still include some X characters such as Sigma, so prepare to vote sometime soon!

Photo 2 - Photo 3

A little tardy to the party, but it's been a bit since we heard anything of the Type-2 D-Arts Zero figure...until just recently! Bandai treated us to some awesome promo pictures. Nice little tributes from official art they did there. So enticing! As expected, Zero now comes with a few variants of his Z-Saber as well as his Z-Buster. No other accessories have been shown or spoke of at this time, but we can't count them out yet (or can we?)

I'm personally glad I hesitated in purchasing the first Zero model since this one is pretty much a "complete" Zero I suppose you could say, but from the looks of it, it may warrant a purchase from those the got the original one too! This model is due for release in May in Japan for 3500 Yen (roughly $45), followed by a stateside release in June. Awesome!
Your Voice. Your Vote!

Attention, everyone! It's time to throw your two cents into the pot and see what it buys. As a community, especially this sort of community, it's that privilege we thrive on and Bandai is giving it to us. Bandai/Bluefin want to know what character they should create next in their line of Mega Man D-Arts figures. They are now officially accepting ideas via two separate polls on their facebook page.

  • Poll 1: "We are letting fans add their own choices to vote on possible future figure releases along with some of our choices. Fans will vote on our Facebook page and we will take the top 7 highest polling numbers. We expect to see all sorts of character names thrown on here and will be quite interesting to see since it will be open to ALL megaman games/universes. This poll will be open for 1 week starting Jan 16, 2012 until Jan 23, 2012."

  • Poll 2: "The top 7 from the previous poll will be put on a new poll in order to measure the level of desirability among those seven. This won't have an official end date."

Let it be known you can vote for any Mega Man character you like. Of course, I want see what more they can do with X Series characters, personally. I'll probably be asking for an Axl to complete the trinity as well as Sigma (lord knows he needs an awesome figure) as well as some accessories such as that capsule prop and maybe the Met. What about you? Send your thoughts their way! =)

Fan Demand Brings Rockman X... Manga

Well, at least some groups listen to us, eh? Publisher Fukkan will be reissuing Yoshihiro Iwamoto's Rockman X Manga in its entirety. The last reissue was back in 2005 to go along with the release of Irregular Hunter X. Like that version, this one uses nice new covers drawn by Iwamoto himself, but will also be condensing the original 12 books into 5 volumes. Fukkan has it on their site for order at 1,995 Yen (about 26 USD). They estimate it'll sell out by mid January, but no word on further reissuing afterwards.

Hopefully with UDON's recent track record, we'll finally see these officially localized and released elsewhere.

MMX New Year's Marathon for Child's Play
 By Mac | 01 January 2012 - 07:31 PM
Happy New Year, everyone! MMX9.com is soon to be three years old. Can you believe it?

A bit late in posting this, but at noon EST today, a great charity has risen.

TorontoTopTiers is holding a Mega Man X marathon in order to raise money for Penny Arcade's Child's Play cause. Since it's X Series centric, there's no way this shouldn't be spread around these parts. It's great! They'll be trekking through all eight main X games and it will be streamed live here. Drawings for prizes will be held as well, with entries given for every $10 a person donates. They are as follows,

  • 1 FC3 Plus Console! Plays Sega Genesis, SNES, and NES games, and comes with 2 controllers and all the hook ups! Prize provided by Omega Collectables.
  • 2 PS3/PC USB Saturn style controllers! Prize provided by Omega Collectables.
  • 1 D-Arts Full Armor Mega Man X Figure from The Toy Trove.
  • Select T-shirts from GDLK Apparel.

For any more info, their facebook page is the place to go. Thanks for the great work, guys! Sigma's ass will be kicked for the children, that it will.

Green Biker Dude...The Game!

"Box Art Version 1 - Art by JetZero"

Yes, indeed! Ever since his short lived, heroic wheelie at the beginning of Mega Man X2, Green Biker Dude has been a fan favorite NPC for quite a while now, being appreciated in fan art and flash movies (one in which I voiced GBD) but never in a game. Until now, that is! Green Biker Dude now has his own Ride Chaser style fan game created by Blyka, Mega Man fan and game creator.

As you can see, the gameplay is very keen to X2's intro. Fast and furious! Riding on a Cheval, you'll control Green Biker Dude through rigorous training in two modes. Story Mode which spans four enemy filled tracks in which you blast your way to the finish, ultimately reaching a boss battle and the tragic tale of GBD, and Time Attack Mode in which you leave enemies in the dust, aiming for the best possible time.

I appreciate the accurate use of graphics and sound effects. The game looks like a blast to play. I'll definitely be downloading it and you can too! Just visit the Green Biker Dude game page on Blyka's site and you're off to the races. Download the game, read the details, and view some screenshots. It's sure to be a wild ride! Thanks, Blyka, for this great tribute to Mega Man fandom. Don't forget the explore the rest of the site and check out the other great games! =)

Happy Birthday, X!

As everyone should know, today marks Mega Man's 24th Anniversary! It's been twenty-four years since our blue boy blasted onto the Nintendo Famicom in Japan today, the 17th of December. The very same day also marks the release of Rockman X on the Super Famicom in 1993. Coincidence? Maybe! Needless to say, it's a very special day for the Mega Man franchise.

Be that as it may, special days for Rockman/Mega Man seem to be in short supply as of late. He has been snubbed multiple times over the duration of this year. No Legends 3, no Universe, no sort of Mega Man in MvC3. Aside from somewhat simple ports, there has been nothing game-wise to report. On the bright side, the comics by Archie, the manga and artbooks by Udon, the occasional batches of merchandise from GE, and the D-Arts and Kotobukiya figures are extremely nice! Though there still lies that craving for some new gaming thrills. We can only hope the games will be revived by some brave company someday. Legends 3 especially. At least Rockman Online is still alive, for what it's worth. An international release is still desired! There's still one title that has yet to appear in any way. It's the reason we're all here. The reason our spirit for Mega Man still burns. That title is Mega Man X9.

There are times where it may seem hopeless and moments where we may question if we are even noticed, but as long as we're all here, there's hope. Not just for X9, but for the Mega Man franchise in general. One day. Mark my words. Until then, keep those heads held high and celebrate the birth of Mega Man and his older brother X any way you wish. Play the game(s) of your choice. Listen to any of the music you choose. Sound off in the comments on what you'll be doing to commemorate this day. =)
Maverick Rising on the Rise!
 By Mac | 14 December 2011 - 06:21 AM
You know, I think I used that same title on the old X9 site regarding the amazing, ambitious Mega Man X remix project. =P

I'm talking about "Maverick Rising", an OCremix Album. It's been a long time coming, but every track on the album is finally complete! It contains 64 tracks from across the entire X Series created by 43 talented artists spanning 5 discs. That's approximately 3 hours of material. What could be better than that? There have been many X remixes before, but this project is huge. The release window for this collection is set sometime in 2012. An actual date is unknown, but what we do know is that the project now has it's very own website and man, it is very slick and streamlined. A joy to browse through. I dunno about you, but I'm still very about excited for this project and glad to know it's moving along and will be released sometime soon (I hope!). For now, I leave you with Maverick Rising's teaser trailer...
